Privacy Policy

Somewhere Along the Way is a digital self-discovery journal. This policy describes information processed when you use the account and journal.

Information we handle

We use your email and authentication information to manage your account, payment status and Stripe payment references to verify purchase access, and encrypted journal reflections if you choose to save them. We also process the messages you send to support and technical information needed to protect and operate the website.

Private reflections and encryption

Cloud reflections are encrypted in your browser using your journal passphrase before upload. Supabase stores the encrypted records associated with your account. Your journal passphrase is separate from your account password; we cannot recover a forgotten journal passphrase.

Service providers

We use Supabase for authentication and storage, Stripe for payments and refunds, Netlify for website hosting and server functionality, and Resend for transactional email delivery. Service providers may process information necessary to deliver their services under their own applicable terms.

Storage on your device

Your browser may store a local copy of your journal answers for convenience. Removing cloud reflections does not remotely erase copies on other offline devices. When a device reconnects through the updated journal, it will recognize the cloud deletion and clear the account-specific local copy. Older, previously opened tabs should be closed. Previously stored, unscoped browser data may require manual removal from your browser settings.

Your controls

Account Settings lets you request deletion of cloud reflections or deletion of your account. Both actions require your current account password and explicit confirmation. Deletion cannot be undone. Account deletion ends journal access and does not automatically refund a purchase. Certain financial transaction records may be retained by Stripe or as required for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention obligations.

Retention and security

We keep information as necessary to run your account and comply with applicable requirements. We use authentication, encrypted journal storage, and access controls, but no online service can promise absolute security. For data access or privacy questions, contact our support email.

Changes

We may update this policy and show a revised effective date when we do.
